Development of computational methods for the analysis of proteomics and next generation sequencing data
Research Experience
During my master’s project, I was working with high throughput RNA expression data on a level of transcription and translation. However, missing the whole proteome and post-translational information was like having an elephant in the room. That is why I joined the Jürgen Cox group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Germany. The Cox group is famous for developing MaxQuant/Perseus, a suite of software for proteomics-based mass spectrometry (MS) data analysis. My Ph.D. research focused on developing computational solutions for various MS problems, including the DIA data analysis (MaxDIA) and the integration of genetic variants, alternative splicing, and RNA expression with proteomics data for multi-omics projects.

Why University of Wisconsin and the Coon lab?
I knew the Coon group as an exceptionally advanced MS instrumentation team. Also, this group represents a rare example of a laboratory with equal expertise in proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics. So I was happy to collaborate on a cutting-edge proteomics project back in Germany and continue doing so on other new challenging projects while being a part of the dream team here.
