What brought you to the Coon lab?

I was attracted to the Coon Lab’s novel mass spectrometry developments. The lab’s collaboration with Thermo Fisher Scientific offered both unique access to modify mass spectrometers, and the ability to have an impact on the greater research community through commercialization. I also wanted to learn about the patent process and technology transfer that the industry partnership affords.

And what does your work at the Coon lab entail?

I helped develop instrumentation for analytical photovoltaic characterization as an undergraduate researcher. As a R&D technician for the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, I worked on an autonomous dissolved inorganic carbon sensor.

As a graduate student, I investigated the preformance and characteristics of Activated Ion Electron Transfer Dissociation (AI-ETD) on tribrid mass spectrometers as a way tp identify and act on possible ways to improve AI-ETD.
